Oli Newhall

Appointed March 2022

Oli returned to Moon Hall in March 2022 but this time not as a student, as a Governor. Moon Hall has always held a place in Oli’s heart since he left in 2013 having achieved the grades he never thought possible. He now gets to inspire the next generation and to ensure they also feel the love and support he experienced during his 5 years with Moon Hall.

Oli has spend the last 8 years in various management positions in both retail & the automotive industry. Oli’s current role is running a successful sales team driving focus in Finance & Compliance across a large New and Used car dealership. Pulling on this experience Oli currently sits on the finance committee within the board.

Oli fully understands that some days might be tougher than others for dyslexics but hopes that students see what he has been able to accomplish and truly believe they can do it too - BECAUSE THEY CAN!

Oli found his passion for the performing arts while at Moon Hall. He carried this love on after he left, this led him to act alongside Dame Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) & Aidan Gillen (Game of Thones) in Toby Dye’s The Corridor which premiered at Somerset House (London) in 2016.

I have been working as a teacher since 1978. My initial roles were at secondary level where I taught English, Games, Drama and PSHE over a twenty seven year period. I was invited into the independent sector and have spent over twenty years in senior roles at prep school level. I have been a Head Teacher for seventeen of these years. As a member of the ISA I have had the honour to serve on the Executive Council and have enjoyed the roles of Chairing the Education Committee and Chair of the Association. I have also served on the ISC as a Board member.

My personal interests revolve around a strong and passionate involvement in sport and drama. As a Lyme Regis boy a sense of the past and of place is essential to me. Yes, I am a fossil from the Jurassic Coast. I made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 1978. I walked backwards along the sea front in Lyme Regis for twenty four hours.

I look forward with great relish to serving MHS in the years ahead.
